Introduction

Welcome to the all new BHIP Blog. We are going to be using this as an outlet for all information related to health and fitness. It will also be a source for BHIP participants to talk to each other and instructors about these topics. Below, you can find an overview of what exactly to expect, but our first substantive post will be out this coming Monday.

Purpose and Topics
Health and fitness are broad categories, but the point of this blog is to supplement the movement and exercise knowledge that you’re all hopefully already gaining in BHIP with further information. In some cases, this will have specific movement or muscular focuses and in others the blog may simply address things you could be doing to help you progress outside of BHIP. Topics can range from things as minute as “What shoes should I be wearing?” to more general subjects like nutrition and injuries to the personal experiences of some of your instructors. We would also love to hear from you all about what topics you’re actually interested in reading, because if no one reads this then what is the point.

Muscle-ups are one potential topic.

Post Frequency
Several of your BHIP instructors will be contributing to the blog; we will do our best to get some sort of post out every 1-2 weeks. Don’t quote me on that but we’ll try.

Class Information
Keep in mind that this blog will not feature any location or class updates in its current state. Those can all still be found on the Rec website and Facebook page, both of which are linked on the right hand side of this site. So please don’t comment here asking where class is today.

Discussion and Comments
We encourage all of you to participate in the blog by posting in the comments below. You can even do so anonymously. This is a safe space, much like class should be. If anything is ever unclear, or you have another question, or want to spark further discussion, or even just say hey to one of your instructors, then you can do it; don’t be shy.

Until our next post, please comment below with any topics (specific or general) you would like us to address going forward. You can also subscribe via email at the bottom of the page to get updates anytime something new is posted.

  1. Thanks for doing this! Topics I would love: (1) a list of recommended post-workout snacks and meals, (2) stretching tips, (3) best workout gear for your home, (4) workout routines for when you're traveling and don't have gym access.

  4. This is great.
I would like a step by step on how to work up to doing a real push up from the floor. e.g., what to do daily (hold a plank? for how long? negatives?), and how long should this take to success--a month? A year?
Then do the same for a pull-up.
    Thanks

    1. I'm also interested re pull-ups. I want to build my upper body strength before I feel confident enough to try a pull-up from a high bar.

  5. All of our 0615, instructors are great motivators and excellent coaches. Since I graduated from BHIP in 2016, I never had any work related injury. Thanks to our A+ instructors for your patience and guidance that I've learned to keep myself physically and mentally fit
